Here is my go-to quick and easy meal that is super healthy and delicious!
If you never made Pan-Fried Mackeral before, you are missing out. All you need is a little bit of salt and pepper, and you are ready to go in less than 10 minutes. I love to eat mine with a big bowl of rice, some grated daikon, and lemon on the side, as well as a big bowl of miso soup. This recipe is especially perfect for a weekend brunch, just like the one I made Dom for his birthday!
My Pan-Fried Mackeral was initially from my 20-minute dinner series in January, but I had so many recipes I never ended up posting it.
However, here is my super easy recipe for one of my go-to healthy, fast meals due to popular demand. I like to cut criss-cross across my Mackeral as I find this prevents the skin from falling off when pan-frying, and it also helps the skin become more crispy.
Not only is Mackeral delicious, but it also has so many health benefits.
Mackeral has a substantial amount of Omega 3 Fatty Acids, is rich in protein, contains alot of Vitamin B12, and is more affordable than other seafood such as salmon. It is a popular protein in Asia, and many households have Mackeral for breakfast.
The number one concern when making Pan-Fried Mackeral is the smell. I am not going to lie; making any type of seafood will always have a strong odor.
A popular option is laying a piece of aluminum foil on your pan before frying; that way, you can just toss the foil away afterward. However, the smell doesn’t bother me personally, and I don’t like using aluminum foil (in fact, I love the smell of grilled fish!)
I just always have the fan on and also have the window slightly open. I will film a recipe soon on how I clean my kitchen and some of my holy grail items to keep the house smelling nice!
