On days where I want to eat a bit healthier, I use this Healthy Purple Multigrain Rice as my base in place of simple white rice. Multigrain rice contains plenty of fiber, so it feel much more filling. It also contains so many other nutrients that a simple white rice doesn't provide - from minerals to vitamins.
Mix 1 part of each into a larger container: Short Grain Brown Rice, Black Sweet Rice, Pressed Barley, Barley, Peeled Mung Bean, and Short Grain Sweet Rice. You can do this in bulk, and take 1 cup at a time when cooking.
When cooking, add 1 cup of multigrain mix to 3 cups of white rice.
OPTIONAL: If you like a softer texture, you can soak the rice ahead of time for about 30 minutes.
Wash and drain the rice mix and put into the rice cooker.
Add water to the mix using the finger method, and turn the rice cooker on "cook". If your rice cooker has a "multigrain" option, you can also use that.
Notes
You can adjust the ratios of different grains based on your personal preferences. The finger method for water measurement: Place your rice in the pot and put your finger vertically on the surface of the rice. Add water up to a little below your 1st knuckle.
