Taiwanese Meat Sauce is a SUPER easy recipe that takes less than 20 minutes to make. You can make Taiwanese Meat Sauce in bulk and freeze it for up to 2 months! I made Taiwanese Meat Sauce at least once a week when working my corporate job because it is easy, delicious, filling, and affordable. You can pair Taiwanese Meat Sauce with rice or noodles. Turn the heat up to medium-high, drizzle in oil, and add ground meat in a pot. Sauté together for 2-3 minutes.
Add in shallots and garlic and sauté together for another 2-3 minutes.
Next, add sliced mushroom, soy sauce, and sugar and saute together for 1-2 minutes.
OPTIONAL add in fermented bean paste and saute for 1-2 minutes.
Pour in 2 cups of water and let it simmer for 20 minutes.

To Freeze: Let the Taiwanese Meat Sauce cool completely before transferring it into freezer bags. Make sure always to squeeze out any excess air. Place it in the freezer and freeze for up to 2 months.To Reheat: Defrost the Meat Sauce in the fridge overnight. Pout the sauce in a pot and heat the sauce over the stove at medium heat. If the sauce is too thick, add ½ cup of water and let it cook for another 5 minutes.
