Full Day of Taipei’s Top Restaurants At Regent Taipei

Here is a full day hotel dining food tour of everything I ate staying at Regent Taipei! It’s not only my favorite hotel in Taiwan, but also home to some of the top restaurants in Taipei. Their dining options include everything from Taipei’s best Beef Noodle Soup, Taiwan’s top breakfast buffet, and Michelin-recommended Cantonese food. Even if you’re not staying at Regent Taipei, I highly, highly recommend checking out their restaurant options when you’re visiting Taiwan!

Dining at Regents Taipei

Depending on where you are, hotel restaurant food can sometimes be tourist traps. But, in Taiwan, hotel dining has become part of the culture. In Taiwan, they’re often the local go-to for special occasions, family gatherings, business meetings, coffee breaks, and date nights, so they’ve become destinations of their own. Often times, this is where you get to experience food from some of the most prestigious chefs in the country.

Today, we’re staying at Regent Taipei, where Dom and I got married! I may be a little biased, but this is my favorite hotel in Taiwan. Here, there’s alway so much going on: shopping, VIP high tea, and even seasonal pop-ups. There’s so much to enjoy here without even having to leave the building. Come with me on a full day of enjoying some of Taipei’s best restaurants in one hotel!

Taiwan’s Top Breakfast Buffet

If there’s anything underrated you have to try in Taiwan, it’s their buffets. So, we’re starting off out morning at Regent Taipei’s breakfast buffet at Brasserie. This is one of the top breakfast buffets in the country, served from 6 AM to 10 AM. For guests of the hotel like us, this breakfast buffet was complimentary with our stay. But, it is typically NT$880 per person plus a 10% service charge. They also have a lunch and dinner buffet, but those are at a different price range.

Honestly, there were so many different options. They had breakfast options in so many cuisines, from Taiwanese to Western. The ingredients all tasted super fresh and high quality, You can choose from steamed buns, egg pancakes, fresh fruit and juices, pastries, soups, salads, and more. The buffet also offers a few items in collaboration with other restaurants, like Michelin-starred Little Tree Food, offering a curated spread of vegetarian breakfasts.

I love their different stations where you can customize your own dishes, like building your own rice balls, omelette, or udon noodle bowl. It’s super fun to pick your own flavors and watch them put it together in front of you! There’s also a giant Nutella station for your waffles. If you’re in Taiwan and want to treat yourself to a fancier buffet, I absolutely recommend trying Brasserie.

Award Winning Beef Noodle Soup

For lunch, I had to try their award-winning beef noodle soup and spicy wonton at Azie Grand Cafe. This cafe, located on the ground floor, is a modern Taiwanese fusion cafe with light meals like salads, pasta, and sandwiches. But, what’s absolutely a must-try is their Beef Noodle Soup. They have four flavors: Champion Broth, Green Peppercorn, Red Braised, and Mala.

They’re most famous for the Champion Beef Noodle Soup (680 NTD). This bowl of noodles is the winner of the 8th Taipei International Beef Noodle Soup Competition for clear broth noodles in 2012.In 2015, CNN recognized it as the one of the best beef noodles in Taipei.

So, of course we had to order it, plus a bowl of the braised beef noodle soup (600 NTD), and some of their Spicy Dumplings. The Champion Noodle Soup comes with bird’s nest fern, wild mountain greens, and sauteed mushrooms, which add lots of umami flavor. And, there’s the chewy fresh noodles and the suuuuuper tender beef that melts in your mouth. The broth itself has layers and layers of flavor. Guys, I totally understand the hype. It was so rich, so comforting, and seriously worth trying. The best part? There’s free soup refills! Pro tip, if you’re staying at the hotel, you can also order this for late night room service!

Viral Dessert Pop-ups

Regent Taipei always has an ever-changing rotation of pop up collaborations with different cafes internationally. Right now, they have a collaboration with Teddy Beurre House, created in Seoul by Kim Hun from Culinary Class Wars Season 2.

While I was there, I got to try the Strawberry Parfait of my dreams ($880 NTD, comes with coffee or tea) from their collaboration with Korean cake shop Kitchen 205. Serve in a clear glass, it has layers of fresh strawberries, fresh whipped cream, sponge cake, granola, strawberry jam, and yogurt. It was the perfect coffee break!

VIP Afternoon Tea Tai pan Lounge

We stopped by the 24 hour Tai Pan Lounge for high tea before dinner. This VIP Lounge is exclusive to guests staying in Regent Taipei’s Tai Pan Rooms, with rotating food options for various meals. Since we’re on a dessert streak, we continued on with their high tea, with pastries like tarts and financier, and coffees.

Service here is amazing, and the environment so calm, we loved coming here to recharge. They’re always serving different things. Between 5:30 PM and 8 PM, members can enjoy complimentary cocktails and made-to-order noodles. So, we also came by for their 10/10 Taiwanese Mango Sparkling Drink and the Taipan Fizz, a cocktail with sparkling oolong tea and sake. If you’re eyeing the Regent Taipei for a future trip, the Tai Pan Lounge experience and its amenities is what really sets the stay apart.

For dinner, we visited Michelin-Recommended Silks House, which is easily one of the best Cantonese restaurants in Taiwan. Silks House is on the 3rd floor of Regents, led by Executive Chef Max Wo, who has over 30 years of Cantonese cooking under his belt. I’m not kidding, this was one of the BEST Cantonese meals of my life! Literally every bite blew my breath away. I’m still drooling over this!

We chose one of their set menu, which comes with appetizer and a series of dishes. Every single dish was unforgettably delicious, and beautifully plated. The appetizers included both classic and creative dim-sum style dishes, including:

  • Chilled Threadfish in Chiu Chow Style 潮式凍馬友
  • Wagyu Beef Tongue with Chili Oil 蔥麻和牛舌: Literally melted in my mouth!
  • Crispy Roasted Pork 脆皮豬燒肉
  • Steamed Mixed Vegetable Dumpling 江南素菜餃
  • Deep-fried Radish Pastry 蘿蔔絲酥餅

The appetizers were only the beginning! I have to mention the Braised Mangrove Crab Roe with Mapo Tofu 膏蟹麻婆豆腐, which is, hands down, the best mapo tofu in my life! The rich spicy crab row with the freshly made rice was chef’s kiss, I literally had 4 bowls!

The double boiled fish maw soup with Chinese cabbage and matsutake 松茸菜膽燉花膠 literally warmed me from the inside out. This soup was unforgettable! Silky, Rich, so comforting, and packed with elegant umami. Plus, it’s full of collagen for your skin! My last must-order dish here is the Deep Fried Sesame Ball with Bird’s nest and almond juice 燕窩杏仁煎堆仔. So delicious! This was a 10 out of 10 meal!

Regent Taipei Location

Regent Taipei is in the Zhongshan district of Taipei City, about an hour away from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). By MRT, it’s only a 15 minute away from tourist hotspots like Taipei 101, Ximending, and Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
The hotel is located right on 赤峰街 Chi-Feng Road, a historic street full of the best restaurants and shopping, from cookware to stationary. For us, the location is 10/10, which is why we always stay here.
