Sharing Home Cooked Meals in Taiwan with Family

I’ve been in Taiwan for a while, and I’ve eaten so many good food here already! Tonight I wanted to stay in and cook a simple household meal. In preparation of a night’s stay in Taipei, we’ve decided to clean out the groceries in the fridge.

For dinner, we’ve got some loofah gourd and fresh chicken from the markets. In Taiwan, I like to use bone-in free range chicken from the traditional markets, but for this recipe you can also use boneless chicken thighs or other parts you like.

Juicier and Healthier Chicken With Steaming

Whenever I make this steamed chicken recipe, I’m greeted with the delicious smells of this soy chicken whenever I open the steamer. Steaming is actually one of the simplest and most common way to cook in Asian cuisine. This method uses less oil, and maintains the original flavor of the ingredients, keeping them juicy.

If you’re looking for a steamer, the two brands I would recommend are SUPOR steamer and Concord Steamer.

Highlighting Steamed Chicken with Scallion Ginger Sauce

The highlight of my Steamed Scallion Chicken is for sure the delicious savory sauce. Even though the steamed chicken itself already has flavor, the scallion and oil in the scallion ginger sauce adds an amazing aroma!

Inspired by the sauce you find for Hainanese chicken, this ginger scallion sauce is super delicious and packed with umami flavors. All you need is ginger, scallion, white pepper, oil, salt, and a hot pot or pan. This sauce seriously tastes good with EVERYTHING

Hi Tiffi! I’ve been following you and making your recipes for a while, and today I found out you have a store I can’t access because you only ship to the United States. I’m currently in Chile, but I travel a lot. My true home is Spain, which I hope to return to soon. So, how can I replace your spring onion and ginger sauce? I always have the spring onion and ginger sauce you showed me in my fridge (wonderful). Anyway, I await your reply, and thank you in advance. Take care. Best regards.
