Here is my 2025 Taiwan Boba Tea Shop ranking for all the tea shops I’ve tried. Whenever I’m back in Taiwan, I basically have a boba tea a day. We’re serious about our teas in Taiwan, so we have a specialty for every boba type: milk tea, fruit tea, even shops that specialize in high quality tea leaves. Check out some of Taiwan’s best boba tea shop chains you can find anywhere in Taiwan!
2025 Taiwan Boba Tea Shop Ranking
If you have ever been to Taiwan, you’ll know that we truly specialize in boba tea. You can literally find a shop in every corner since Taiwan is the birthplace of bubble tea. Every shop has its own twist: extra soft pearls, brown sugar syrup, fruity teas, and toppings you never even knew existed. It is almost impossible to walk around without a cup in your hand because it is refreshing, affordable, and honestly a big part of our culture.
This time back in Taiwan, we kept our daily tradition of grabbing boba. Yes, we are very serious about having one every single day when we’re in Taiwan. Here is my personal ranking for all of the different boba tea spots I’ve tried in Taiwan this year! This list includes all the top chains I enjoyed for everyone, from those that prefer tea-heavy drinks to sweet, creamy drinkable desserts!
1. 50 Lan 五十嵐 – Classic Boba
The first in my rankings has to be 50 Lan (五十嵐)! This classic boba shop is everywhere in Taiwan, with over 500 branches. They might be the golden standards for boba tea drinks. Their menu is the same everywhere, with a wide range of classic fruit and milk tea drinks, combined with toppings like boba, jelly, and more. They don’t necessarily focus on or market super high quality, branded strains of tea like some other tea shops, the tea quality here is still consistently good.
The drinks definitely feel more like a drink than a dessert. But, they’re meant to allow for sugar adjustments, so 100% can be a bit sweet. Make sure to adjust sweetness to your likings! If you’re in Taiwan looking for boba, look for the bright yellow and blue signs on the streets. You won’t miss it!
2. TenRen 天仁茗茶 – For Tea Lovers
TenRen 天仁茗茶 was my 1st boba of this trip! This boba chain is also everywhere in Taiwan. s a tea leaf retailer that modernized into boba, Ten Ren’s drinks are tea-first. They believe that the flavors of quality tea leaves speaks for itself, no matter what it’s paired with. In particular, they’re known for their Oolong and roasted teas. So, their teas tend to be a little less sweet, with more naturally bitter tea flavors. If you’re someone that prefers to taste the tea when you’re drinking your boba, this is the one!
3. Macu Tea 麻古茶坊 – Fruit Teas & DRINKABLE dessert
Founded 2008 in Kaohsiung, Macu Tea 麻古茶坊 is the fresh fruit tea spot. Known for using freshly cut fruit prepared to order rather than syrups and purees. They’re also known for a series of fruit-forward drinkable desserts, turning classic Chinese “tong sui 糖水“ style fruit desserts into boba drinks. Their top flavors include avocado smoothies and mango pomelo smoothies. This trip to Kaohsiung, we grabbed some of their tea and enjoyed while watching the beautiful sunset from our hotel. If you’re someone who really appreciates fresh fruit in your tea, Macu Tea is the best choice for you!
4. NAP TEA 再睡5分鐘 – Milk Cap and Tea Lattes
Another boba shop I really enjoyed this year is NAP TEA 再睡5分鐘, which we ordered before our kai dong meeting near Dihua Street. Created by a Taiwanese Youtuber, their branding is cozy with nap-themed art and drink names. They’re always doing adorable collaborations, like the one recently with Tom and Jerry.
This cozy nap-themed cafe serves drinks designed to be just a little indulgent, because it’s self care. They’re particularly known for milk caps and roasted tea lattes. They also have a range of roasted soba teas, which is pretty unique. We got our drinks delivered, and they even packaged the milk caps separately so we can pour it in ourselves. For people who love boba for that cozy-sweet feeling, NAP TEA will have the drinks you like.
5. Daming 大茗本位製茶堂 – Infused Fruit Teas
Our next tea shop is at Daming 大茗本位製茶堂. They’re known for good quality tea leaves, but also creative, not too sweet infused fruit flavors as well. Their signature in particular is their avocado crema. Today, I ordered their fresh and fruity signature Apple Taiwanese Ching Tea (NT$69).
The drinks are tasty, but they also put a lot of thought into their packaging and presentations. My signature apple tea came in a UV-sensitive cup with apples that show up on the tree under the sun! It’s the little thoughts like this they put into every process of the drinks that makes this tea so good.
6. Ching Shin 清心福全 – Old School Boba
Ching Shin 清心福全 is another classic nation-wide chain that ever Taiwanese person knows. Starting as a local cold drink stand in Tainan in 1987, they now have branches everywhere. As one of the first original brands of Taiwan, they’re really popular in central and southern Taiwan. Their menu is huge, with everything from fruit vinegars, wintermelon drinks, yakult teas, fruit tea, and milk tea. It’s affordable, nostalgic, and fast. You can never go wrong with Ching Shin, because they’ll always have something you like on the menu.
7. Hwa Da Milk tea 樺達奶茶 – Milk Tea Expert
On our Kaohsiong trip, we discovered Hwa Da Milk tea 樺達奶茶. This boba shop has been popular in Kaohsiong and a lot of southern Taiwan since 1982. Their menu is actually incredibly simple: various ratios of milk, black tea, pu’er tea, green tea, and oolong tea. They also have a morning, midday, and night tea ratio options that’s better adjusted to the time of day that’s less aggressive for your gut health.
They do have a few other unique things on the menu, but they are truly milk tea specialists. They’re very focused on their milk tea ratio so the flavor stays strong and creamy. To maintain the concentration, they shake it with ice for you, but you won’t have any ice in the cup. So, it’s a little less icy than other places. However, it’s the perfect ratio!
