Here’s my honest book review of the 4 books I read in Fall 2025. This fall season, I’ve been really into fantasy romance, with whimsical topics from time travel to dragon riders to vampires. Here are the books I read in September and October that got me immersed in a whole new world, from Bride by Ali Hazelwood to Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros,

My September and October 2025 Reading List

Here’s my reading list for September and October 2025! My mom’s coming over for some fall season baking, including her delicious Scallion Focaccia. So, before she arrived, I want to do a very quick book review to share my thoughts on this season’s reading.

I traveled a lot this month, so I had a lot of time to read as many books as I can. This Fall season we’ve got some really good reads, including some that many of you have recommended for YEARS. So, here are all the books I read in September and October!

Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston (5/5)

First off, we got The Seven-Year Slip by Ashley Posen, and this was definitely one of my favorite reads of 2025. This is a time-traveling romance about grief, self-healing, friendship, and finding someone who truly loves and understands you. This book is heartfelt, hopeful, and heartbreaking all at once. It doesn’t dive too deep into how the time traveling works, which I really find is the beauty of the writing. It makes it less sci-fi and more whimsical and romantic. I also love that the author dived into two of my favorite industry, publishing and the restaurant industry.

Posen describes grief beautifully, from how it changes you, how it shapes how you see love, and also how love can exist in so many different timelines, shapes, and forms. I really loved every single character from this book . This is a book I really think can be turned into a series or a movie one day. Fingers crossed, I really hope they do. Overall, I give it a five out of five star. Highly, highly recommend. 

Bride by Ali Hazelwood (4/5)

Next, I read Bride by Ali Hazelwood. I’ve read so many of her books because they are super fun to read, super fast-paced. I usually finish it within one day. However, normally she writes STEM books, and this book is actually about vampires and werewolves. The story follows Misery, a very sharp and independent vampire, and her forced marriage to the alpha werewolf to maintain the peace between the two worlds.

The storyline sounds a little bit iffy. So, I was both skeptical and very excited. However, it was actually so fun to read. It was super super fast-paced, super fierce, slightly spicy. The banter in this book is so fun! Overall, this is a 4/5 star, definitely another fun read from Ali Hazelwood. Just like her other books, I finished this book within one day. I think that if she ever writes another book like this, I would definitely give it another try. If you’re a fan of enemies-to-lover type of storyline, this is a book for you. I would give this book a 4/5 star. It’s another fun read from Ali Hazelwood!

The Husbands by Holly Gramazio (2/5)

The next book I read was The Husbands by Holly Gramazio. This is actually a book that I picked up during my London travels. So, it’s been a while and I was really really excited to pick this up since I was in a time traveling romance mood. The story line follows Lauren, who finds out that whenever she walks up to her attic, her husband will change every single time. Not only does she get a new husband, but the overall universe and reality changes as well: her friendships, her family, her environment, and so much more.

This book gets a 2/5 star because t actually turned into a really really exhausting read. At first, it was very, very fast-paced and engaging. I finished the first half of the first quarter of the book quite quickly. However, as time went on, the story began feeling very really repetitive. I had a really hard time connecting with any of the characters, including the main character herself. There was no more development to the story line at all.

I had a really hard time finishing this book. It took almost 2 weeks, which never happens. My mistake was definitely reading it right after the Seven Year Slip, which is the other time travel book I read this month. It’s an amazing idea, but I just wish it was executed a little bit better.

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros (5/5)

Last but not least, we got Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. I know I am so many years late to this bandwagon, but it took me a long time to get over the ACOTAR series. You guys been recommending this book to me for 2 years! I finally excited to read a new fantasy series again.

This story follows Violet Sorrengail, forced by her mother to join the Basgiath War College to train as a dragon rider. With fantasy series, you always have to dive into the fantasy world first. There’s so many things to learn just in the 1st 10 chapters! This is the type of fantasy romance packed with politics, friendship, wars, and action with a heavy enemy-to-lover streak. I particularly love the dragons in these books, because they’re so interesting to read about and connect with. They have their own personality and character. With this book, you look forward to learning everyone’s storyline.

I would give this book a 5/5 stars. I don’t think it is better than ACOTAR just yet. If you haven’t read either yet, I would say read to Fourth Wing first so you won’t have to emotionally recover from ACOTAR. I’m excited to continue burning through this series. It’s a thick book, but i finished in a week. I’m already halfway through the second book! I’m so happy to find another fantasy series, and I can’t wait to share my thoughts on the rest.
