Our Seattle Seahawks Game Day Weekend Road Trip

Dom and I were fortunate enough to be invited to the Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bill game at Lumen Field in Seattle. So, we’re going on a mini road trip to Seattle, Washington! It’s been a while since we’ve had a getaway just the two of us, and I’m really excited. We’re going to enjoy some great Seattle eats, shop at Target and Trader Joe’s, and end the weekend with some live football! If you’re a football lover, or just in the Seattle area, this is a fun way to plan a Game Day weekend trip!

Vancouver To Seattle Weekend Road Trip

Seattle in the Pacific Northwest of the USA, in the state of Washington. It sits right across the Canadian-US border from Vancouver, about a 3 hour drive away. Seattle is a cool mix of amazing views, great food, coffee culture, and quirky neighborhoods, with plenty of outdoor adventures nearby. It’s the perfect spot for art lovers, foodies, outdoor adventurers, and anyone who enjoys a good time. There are countless reasons to drive to Seattle, but this weekend, we’re here for the Seattle Seahawks game.

To cross the Canadian-US Border, you will need to show your passport and go through a security check. Or, you can apply for NEXUS for speedy border entry. Be sure you’re not bringing any meat, plants, and seeds to or from Canada, and you should be fine! It’s a super simple process, and you’ll be in Seattle in no time.

Anthony’s Hearthfire Grill Bellingham

We headed out for Seattle midday, and We decided to enjoy some seafood lunch at Anthony’s Hearthfire Grill for some yummy seafood. The restaurant is open and bright inside, with most tables offering a full view of the Puget Sound. Freshly baked bread and butter is sent to your table as you’re ordering, which I’ve always loved at a restaurant. We started our meal with crispy calamari with lemon aioli ($20) that we simply couldn’t resist.

Anthony’s entrees were also delicious! Their Alaskan Ponzu Bowl ($25) had a thick slice of ponzu-glazed salmon with jasmine rice and green salad. The buttery salmon flakes apart with your fork, and melts in your mouth. I ordered the Seafood Bisque and Caesar combo ($16.50), which was the perfect combination of freshness and warmth – great if you’re looking for something light! Anthony’s Hearthfire Grill was a great place to fully appreciate the freshness and quality of Seattle seafood.

Target and Trader Joe’s Shopping Trip

Driving to another country just to go to their super markets? Absolutely! I find that in the US there are a lot more available varieties in the products. We had to stop by Target and Trader Joe’s to stock up on some snacks and other products that we don’t have in Canada. I bought tons of fun fall and winter body and skin care from Target!

Next, we headed to Trader Joe’s. If you haven’t heard of Trader Joe’s, it’s a US-only grocery store chain with a ton of their own signature snacks and foods. Many of these are so good, they’ve go viral on social media often!

Of course, I had to do a taste test of a few new items. First, Bamba’s puffed peanuts and corn snacks. They were salty and crunchy, filled with a nutty hazelnut filling similar to Nutella. It reminded me of mixing movie theater popcorn to chocolate… if you like sweet and savory, you’ll love them. We also opened up a pack of butter waffle cookies that I’ve been seeing all over TikTok. I was expecting them to be sweeter, but they were light and buttery crisp. This cookie would definitely be really good with ice cream! So good, I was tempted to go back into Trader Joe’s.

Chan Seattle

I’ve been craving Korean this week, so for dinner we decided on a more date night vibe – and Chan Seattle was it. This Korean Fusion restaurant inside Paramount Hotel gives classic dishes a modern Korean twist, and the flavors are so fun! Dom and I ordered a bunch, so we could try everything!

We started with a spread of appetizers: Asian pear steak tartare ($18), Fish Sauce Vinaigrette Brussel Sprouts ($16), and Chili Oil Chimichurri Wagyu bone marrow ($18). All of them had such bright – yet balanced flavors! After a round of fun appetizers, we switched over to entrees. For creative fusion flavors, Chan Seattle had such comforting options. Their Spicy Gochujang Pork Sliders ($14) was the perfect savory-spicy bite – with a pop of sour from pickled radish. The star of the night was probably the Smoked Duck Sot Bap ($39), or Korean Iron Pot Rice, which was generously loaded with duck meat and mushrooms!

Besides great food, Chan Seattle also had really fast services. If you like your cocktails strong, and love $10 happy hour appetizers, come to Chan’s! Chan Seattle is located right in Downtown Seattle, near the Seattle Convention Center. There’s tons of parking across the street – perfect for a weekend road trip.

Seattle Seahawks Vs Buffalo Bills at Lumen Field

This weekend road trip getaway couldn’t have come at a better time. We’ve been so focused on getting back into a normal routine, it’s a good time to reconnect with each other. Where better to do that than in a stadium full of football fans? We arrived at Lumen Field decked out in Seahawks gear, ready for the VIP tailgating event!

Dom’s the bigger football fan, but the energy of the live game draws everyone in regardless. There’s just something about wearing team colors and chanting with strangers that just gets your heart pumping! It’s not my first live football game, but it might be our first time on the sidelines, so I’m excited!

VIP Tailgating with Beer and Loaded Hotdogs

A great game always starts starts with a great tailgate party, and Lumen Field’s VIP experience was fun, energetic, and surprisingly super tasty! Tailgating at home in front of the TV is relaxing and fun, but the energy of tailgating with hundreds of other cheery, tipsy fans just hits different.

Dom and I each grabbed our first game day beer, and headed for the hotdog station. They offered a ton of toppings and sauces, and we just had to load them up. With drinks, hotdogs, and finger foods in hands, we cheered mingled and warmed up for the game. Our Core Memory At The Sidelines

Finally, the highlight of the night! For the first time, we got the chance to be on the sidelines! Seeing the football players you see on TV playing live in front of you is so surreal – Dom even saw Josh Allen up close! I’ve always known that football players were tall, but seeing them in person makes me realize how tall they really are! Being on the sidelines will forever be a core memory for us. I will always be so grateful Dom and I were able to create these memories together.

Exploring Lumen Stadium’s Food Options

The Lumen Stadium has TONS of interesting food options we were excited to try. If you ever get a chance to watch the game live, don’t miss out on their concession stands too! They have over 20 different concessions stands serving a wide variety of stadium snacks and drinks. We got a few options from Bar Dojo: Pork Xiao Long Bao ($16.99), Poke Nachos ($15.99), and Birria Ramen ($14.99). Who knew Xiao Long Bao paired so well with touchdowns?
