Whistler Cafes and Treats I Keep Going Back To

Here are the Whistler Cafes and Treats I keep going back to every time I visit. Since we’re back in Whistler for our 5-year anniversary, I want to show some love to our favorite weekend getaway. Between lake hikes and all the other fun activities Whistler has to offer, there are tons of little local cafes and shops for post-activity rewards. If you’re in Whistler, you have to try all of these delicious spots, from my favorite guilty pleasure warm cookies to the best pizza in town!

Must Try Cafes and Treats in Whistler

Whistler is one of our favorite summer getaways from Vancouver. Honestly, I think it’s one of the most underrated places to visit in the summer. This weekend, we’re celebrating our 5-year wedding anniversary and taking you along our perfect Whistler itinerary. I share everything from Best Hotels to stay in Whistler, the Best Restaurants to eat in Whistler, and fun activities like Snomobile tours. And, you can’t miss the quick detour trip to Squamish we made driving along the Sea To Sky Highway. Today, I want to share some of the cozy cafes and delicious spots that make us come back year after year. From some of the best pizzas to fun Australian meat pies, here are some of the spots you have to try in Whistler.

BReD: Organic Sourdough

We want to bring you guys to one of our favorite bread stops: BReD Organic Sourdough. BReD is an artisan bakery that bakes natural ferment sourdough. Their whole menu is completely plant-based as well. This cafe is super popular locally, and we even found their cookbook in a local bookstore! Since we slept in this morning, I was scared a lot of things are going to be sold out on the weekend. And they were!

Despite most things selling out, we’re still able to pick up a few things to have for breakfast on our balcony. First, the latte here is delicious. We were able to grab some of their individual sourdough buns, topped with a ton of sesame and pumpkin seeds. We were able nab one of their last few containers of olives. These are really yummy, especially to go with the bread and the beautiful views from our balcony.

So, basically, because we woke up a little bit later and they’re so popular. They have a couple of must-buys that were already sold out. My favorite is their hummus. If you do go, make sure to stock up on it. They’re located near Whistler Creek. If you are going on a weekend, I highly recommend going before 10:00 a.m. After that, everything’s going to be gone!

Peak Pies: Australian Meat Pies

One spot I always love is Peak Pies. We’ve been coming here for years. They specialize in Australian-style meat pies, and are particularly popular with skier and hikers. These meat pies have really, really buttery crust with various options for savory fillings on the inside. I got the traditional Aussie, which is with minced beef. Dom got a Hopper, which comes with kangaroo meat. This hits the spot every time.

Even though it’s optional, I think it is a must to make it “peaked style”. For an extra $5.75, you get your pie with mashed potatoes, smashed peas, and gravy on top. I love the mash peas and it’s so so filling. It’s actually even a good enough portion to share between two people, so you can try other food afterwards around the village. You can also buy their frozen pies and bring it at home to bake. I believe there’s also some locations down in Vancouver as well. But for us, you just can’t beat eating it here in person in Whistler fresh.

Fresh Street Market: Warm Cookies

Another spot that you guys have to check out when you’re in the Village is Fresh Street Market. So, it’s actually a grocery store with a lot of pre-made food. A lot of people like to come here to grab their groceries for the week for their cabin. However, I am here for their hot fresh cookies. Pro tip, make sure you ask them to give you the warm cookies!

Oh my goodness, these cookies here are delicious. They’re definitely my guilty pleasure. I got the salted caramel, which looks amazing, with a drop of caramel in the middle. It’s really soft, really creamy and gooey on the inside. The cookie is sweet, but really delicious. They also have a new Dubai chocolate version that I saw. A lot of people think this is the best cookie in Vancouver, and I low key agree. If you’re going to bring it home, they have instructions on how to warm it up at home.

Purebread: Baked Goods

Another spot that you guys have to check out is Purebread Bakery here in the village. They started first as a farmer’s market stall in Whistler, and have now expanded to have multiple BC branches. They have really good coffee. In the bakery, they rotate different bread and pastries daily. There’s so many to choose from!

Because we just had a cookie, I ended up getting an avalanche bar instead. It is like a Rice Krispie with marshmallows and chocolate chips, which was absolutely delicious. It’s perfect for families and quick bites. The only thing to keep in mind is that it does get really, really busy, especially in the mornings!

Cows: Slow Churned Ice Cream

For ice cream, you have to come to Cows Ice Cream. They’re actually originally from Prince Edward Island, but now they’ve expanded all over Canada. they are known for their super creamy, high quality slow-churned dairy ice cream at $6.25 for a single or $8.25 for a double scoop, They also have sundaes, hot chocolates, and milkshakes. Inside the store, there’s also a gift shop with tons of their branded merch.

They have a great range of ice cream flavors, from classics to their creative specialty flavors. I love love love the Gooey Mooey. It’s my favorite flavor. It is a burnt sugar ice cream, made by mixing vanilla ice cream with English toffee, topped with English toffee marble, caramel cups, and chocolate flakes on a gluten-friendly rainbow sprinkle cone. If you love ice cream ,definitely come by to try their cones!

% Arabica: Coffee Stop

Every time I’m in Whistler Village, I come by the % Arabica. In fact, I talked about this cafe both in my Family Whistler Staycation and my Weekend Birthday Snowmobile Staycation. Designed to look like a modern igloo, this is a well-loved coffee chain from Japan. Since it’s hot, we decided to grab a matcha latte ($8) and a Lemonade ($7). I think their coffee is better than their matcha and lemonade, but they’re still really refreshing.

There was no one here, so we got to enjoy the AC. Since it is inside the Village, it’s a convenient spot for quality coffee, with prices ranging from $4.50 to $7.50. It’s a very chill place for a coffee break from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM daily.

Fix Cafe: Pre-Hike Sandwiches and Wraps

Before we headed to Joffre Lake, we decided to fuel up at Fix Cafe inside Nita Lake Lodge. Their menu includes sandwiches, wraps, and coffees that are tasty and filling. We actually visited the cafe a few days ago for a post-run treat of their dairy-free plant-based ice cream. It was amazing after a run!

For our pre-hike breakfast, I got myself a green smoothie, an iced latte, and a cookie for later on in the hike. We ordered a breakfast wrap to bring on our hike, as well as a smoked meat sandwich. The smoothies are good. The extra breakfast wrap really came in handy during our hike, and was super delicious as well!

CreekBread: Pizza and Cocktails

After our hike, we were starving and went for some pizza and cocktails at Creekbread for a little snack. Creekbread is a must get whenever you’re in Whistler, known for their wood-fire pizzas. Dom’s never tried it, but I’ve been here a few times and the food is so so good. It is very casual, very cozy, exactly the spot that you want after a long outdoor adventure. It’s just a quick 5-minute walk on the side of the hotel, and a popular stop for skiers, hikers, and mountain bikers. After hiking Joffrey Lakes, this was the perfect meal.

While waiting for our pizzas, we ordered margaritas ($16) to sip on. You can also get this local style, which adds charred jalapeños for $2.5 extra. Finally, it’s time for pizza. Honestly, I think it is the best pizza in Whistler. Our go-to order is the Pemberton Potato Pie ($28 for 12”). It comes with pebble potatoes, roasted garlic, rosemary cream sauce, spinach, mozzarella, and lots of cheese. You have to get it local style with bacon for $5 extra!
