My End of Summer 2025 Book Review
Here’s my End of Summer 2025 Book Review, from Abby Jimenez’s latest romance to Taylor Jenkins Reid’s cult-favorite Daisy Jones & The Six. These were some of the most talked-about books of the season, and I spent the summer reading them all. A few became new favorites, while others left different impressions. if you’re looking for new books to read as we head into fall, here’s an honest take on a few I think you should read!
Last Book Club For Summer 2025 Books
There’s something about gathering together for book club and cooking for the girls that just makes the night so much more fun. Tonight I made Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup and Fruit Salad, which kept things cozy and relaxed while we caught up. Of course, the real highlight was diving into our end of summer 2025 books. This month’s picks gave us plenty to chat about, from swoony romances to big-name bestsellers that everyone had an opinion on. Some stories instantly clicked, while others left us divided, which honestly made the discussion even better!
I loved sharing with my book club, but I want to share with you as well. Here’s my full review of everything I’ve read for Summer 2025. If you’ve read them, let me know your thoughts on these books in the comments!
Say You Remember Me – Abby Jimenez
First up is Say You Remember Me, the newest book from my all time favorite author, Abby Jimenez. This is a contemporary romance that had me all in my feelings. It is so emotional and so good. This heartfelt story is about love, sacrifice, resilience, and finding joy even when life gets hard.
What I love the most about Abby’s books is that her subplots are always so amazing. It’s not just about love, it’s about friendship, family, self-development, and so much more. This book also tackles caring for and loving someone with early onset dementia as they slowly slip away. It got me laughing, crying, and feeling every single emotion. I really could not put it down. In fact, I finished it in just 2 days. I give this book a 4.5/5 star. Highly, highly recommend this book!

Project Hail Mary – Andy Weir
Next up is Project Hail Mary, by Andy Weir, which is our book club’s book of the month. This is actually a sci-fi book by the same author who wrote The Martian. I’m normally not a a big fan of sci-fi at all, but this book is probably one of the best books I’ve read in a very long time.
The story follows Ryland Grace, a scientist who wakes up in a spaceship with zero memory of what he’s doing there and why. The book is very science-heavy, but it really keeps you engaged. The problem solving of the science really got me hooked since page one.
By the way, the audiobook is unreal. It feels like you’re listening to a movie or a screenplay the whole time. It is emotional, quirky, funny, and thrilling. It is everything! Even if you don’t like sci-fi, please give this book a try. I promise you are going to fall in love with this 5/5 star book!

Out on a Limb – Hannah Bonam-Young
Our next book is Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young. This is actually the first book that I’ve read on a Kindle. This book is a contemporary romance that follows Bo and Win, and their unexpected journey of becoming co-parents together from a one night stand. It is very, very light, funny, and easy to read. It’s one of those feel-good romances that you get through really, really fast.
That being said, I didn’t quite enjoy that the miscommunication and conflict of this book really, really dragged on. On top of that, I don’t think there was enough subplot. I felt like the author could really have gone deeper into some of their issues. Since I did finish the book, I would give it a 3/5 star. I really did enjoy her overall writing style, so next time I’ll read another one of her books. .

Daisy Jones & the Six: A Novel – Taylor Jenkins Reed
Last but not least, we got Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reed, one of my favorite authors of all time. This book follows Daisy Jones, a very, very talented singer that’s part of a 70’s rock band, and the band’s journey of becoming the next big hit. This book is messy emotionally, with so much drama in the best way possible.
Reading this book felt like watching a documentary. The way she describes every scene made me feel like a fly on the wall. I wished this book was longer! I loved every single character. In fact, even want to follow up with these characters over and over again. I don’t know how she does it. Her books are so well done I feel like they fit in every single genre.
I think this is one of those books that I’ll be reading over and over again. Really similar to her other books, Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, where you just can’t stop thinking about it. Easily a 5/5 star book. I’m also watching the show right now, and the music is so well done. Highly recommend reading this book if you’re in a book slump, because I think it’ll get you right out of it. The audiobook is also 10 out of 10. Chef’s kiss!
