Sweet Bean Sauce 甜麵醬

Just beef and pancake can taste a little bland, but sweet bean sauce 甜麵醬 brings it to life! Sweet bean sauce is a fermented bean sauce, sometimes used in dishes like Jjajangmyeong. It is similar to Doubanjiang, except it’s a savory-sweet sauce best suited for pairing with meat and noodles. It’s slightly sweet and tart flavors stimulates your taste buds, and makes me drool just thinking about it!

I use Taiwanese Sweet Bean Sauce 甜麵醬 to make this roll, but if you can’t find this sauce, you can also use hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, fermented bean sauce, or a mix!

You can make the beef shank in bulk and freeze it for up to 40 days. So whenever I’m craving this, I thaw out the braised beef shank I’ve made in the freezer for this treat.
