Jammy Tuna Melt: The Most Decadent Breakfast Sandwich
I woke up craving tuna melt, and this is my favorite way of making it. The cheese at the top melts but also crisps up a little, giving it a crunch at the top. With rich egg yolk, melty cheese, and creamy tuna, It’s the perfect bite.
Today, we are making our tuna mix with black pepper and Japanese mayo. It’s one the sweeter side, and a little spicy. You can add your favorite spices and herbs to switch it up on your tuna mix. You can even add nuts or some veggies to make it extra fresh, like celery or bell peppers.

Using The Air Fryer For A Full Day’s Meals
I showed you all a full day of comfort meals with an Air Fryer in one day, and this Cheesy Tuna Melt was the first thing I made. I love using the Air Fryer to make my meals! It’s mess-free and stress-free, because all you need to do is put it into the Air Fryer and press ‘start’. In one day, I also made Air Fryer Lemongrass Chicken and 15 minute Salmon, and barely did any dishes.
You can definitely make this tuna sandwich in the toaster as well. All you have to do is toast it until the cheese melts, and it’s ready to enjoy!
What Kind of Tuna I Use For Tuna Melt
Canned tuna might be a simple ingredient, but thereโs tons of creative recipes you can make with one can! Itโs a great protein In a pinch for a Tuna Onigiri, or great as a filling for this Cheesy Tuna Melt. Combined with shredded cheese and egg yolk, this rich tuna topping really stands out in our cheesy melt.
For some reason, Korean canned tuna just hits different for me. Don Won Tuna can is my FAVORITE brand. I donโt know if itโs the seasoning or the quality of tuna, but it’s just different. Today I used original, but If you like it extra spicy, you can also try their Spicy Korean Double Hot Tuna!

Cheesy Tuna Melt Ingredients
- 2 slices Bread
- 1 can tuna
- 1/4 cup Japanese mayo
- black pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese
- 1 Egg Yolk

How To Make Cheesy Tuna Melt
- Add tuna to a bowl and season with Japanese mayo and black pepper
- Spread the tuna mixture over one slice of bread.
- using the back of the spoon make a dent in the middle of the bread.
- Place the slice of bread with the dent on top of the tuna mixture of the other to make a sandwich.
- sprinkle on shredded cheese and add the egg yolk where the dent was made
- Air fry at 380 for 7 minutes.
