My Travel Schedule
My Singapore Trip: Exploring Singapore with Locals
When you think of foodie paradise, where does your mind go first? For me, it is always Singapore. A country overflowing with flavor, culture, and some of the best eats in the world. This trip, Dom and I were invited by the Singapore Tourism Board to explore even more of this country. We’re enjoying local neighborhoods like Kampong Glam, and bar hopping our way through Singapore’s unique cocktail bar culture!
Buckle up, because we are heading off to Singapore! We’re flying from Vancouver with China Airlines, with a layover in between in Taipei. Come with me to see everything I got to eat on a full travel day to Singapore.
Vancouver SkyTeam Lounge
While we’re waiting for our flight to board, we had to get a pre-flight snack at the Vancouver SkyTeam Lounge, accessible with to China Airlines Business Class ticket holders. Located in the west wing of International Concourse D, this lounge is a great place to relax before your flight. The amenities include hot showers, tons of food, and tons of comfy areas to lounge around in.

The lounge food here today was actually pretty good! Their refreshment buffet included a range of hot food options, from pork cutlets, to mashed potatoes. They also had a salad bar, and a ton of drink options. Of course, we each had to grab a bowl of noodle soup as well from their noodle bar.
YVR to TPE: China Airlines Business Class
We’ve finally boarded our flight from Vancouver to Taipei! This China Airlines flight takes about 12 to 13 hours. We were welcomed into our seats with fresh juices and waters before settling in for a long flight.

Dinner: Scallop Chicken Noodles
China Airlines has the best plane food! Dinner was served soon after we took off. Today’s business class dinner is a delightful bowl of fresh scallop chicken noodle soup. It comes for 4 little cold sides, including a light bell pepper shrimp salad and a rolled egg omelette. The meal is finished with a plate of fresh mixed fruits. For airport food, it was the right amount of light and filling right before a 7 hour nap.

Breakfast: Congee
After my nap, it’s time for breakfast service. Of course, I can’t pass up their delicious Asian breakfast options. I had to choose the classic Plain Congee, topped with a generous amount of pork floss. Also included were 4 different dishes that also go so well with congee, from stir-fried edamame and tofu to sautéed veggies, and a steamed mantou bun.

Taipei Airport Business Class Lounge
Finally, we landed in Taipei! Of course, whenever I’m here, I make a beeline for the China Airlines Business Class Lounge. There’s one in both Terminal 1 and 2, so I never miss it, because this is my favorite airport lounge! I actually REALLY enjoy the food here. There’s tons of freshly steamed buns, hot foods, salads, and more. And of course, their made-to-order Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup at the noodle bar.

Of course, we’re in Taiwan, so I love also grabbing fresh fruits, yakults, or an ice cold Taiwan Beer when we’re passing through. Before my flight, I also had to make sure to wash my face for a fresh reset. It’s my new favorite thing to do on a long haul flight with a layover!
TPE To SIN Business Class
Our final flight of this leg of travel is the Taipei to Singapore flight, which takes about 4 hours 30 minutes. Again, we kicked off our flight with some fresh fruit juice and relaxed. This flight is just enough time for me to finish my current book, Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez. Be sure to catch my book review of this book!

Lunch: Abalone Noodle SOup
Our last airplane meal of the trip is their Abalone Noodle Soup! This meal is part of their collaboration with various Michelin-starred restaurants. It’s astounding to think that you can get abalone on a flight China Airline’s meals are unmatched, and I was really impressed! The soup was rich and flavorful, and the abalone so tender. The meal also comes with a salad, some radish cakes, and fresh fruits for dessert. It was a great meal to end the travel day!
