My Local Singapore Cocktail Spot Bar Hopping

Join me on my bar-hopping adventure for Local Recommended Singapore Cocktail Spots! I love cocktails, and Singapore’s cocktail scene blew me away with their wide selections and creative combinations. Thanks to some local friends, I’ve collected a list of unique cocktail bars that will not disappoint. Some of these were even recognized on the Top 50 Bars in Asia! If you love cocktails and you’re visiting Singapore soon, these are the spots to hit!

Singapore’s Vibrant Cocktail Scene

I’m back in Singapore, and this time, I got to share some of my favorite spots with my best friends. We got to enjoy everything from all the top chicken rice spots around Singapore to my first meet-and-greet ever! one of my favorite activity was cocktail nights in some of Asia’s best bars. Most of these spots were probably ones that I would never have found on my own, and they’re now officially made it onto my must-visit list every time I’m here in Singapore.

Maybe it was the cocktails warming our hearts, or just the magic of very good company, but these nights truly became a core memory. Thank you so much, Tabby, for showing us around and sharing some of these fun bars. Experiencing these cocktail nights in Singapore with some of my best friends is an experience that I will never forget. 

Night Hawk (9.5/10)

First up, Night Hawk. This hidden little speakeasy that might just be my new favorite cocktail bar here in Singapore. With warm lighting, plush seats, and a beautiful retro vibe, the decor here makes you feel like you’ve stepped right into a movie scene. It’s no wonder, since the decor is inspired by Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks. Night Hawk won the Bareksten Best Bar Design Award from The World’s 50 Best Bars in 2023, and is listed as Asia’s No. 16 Best Bar in 2024.

Oh my goodness, The cocktails here are so good. They have all your classic favorites, like espresso martini, Manhattan, Negroni, but with their own playful, creative twist. Their fun signature cocktails are created with flavor combinations that makes it feel both surprising and familiar at the same time. Here are some of the drinks we ordered:

• Nighthawks: Rum, Vodka, Coffee, Amaro, Chocolate, topped with hot coconut gula melaka foam
• Kick Artist Fix: Rye, Rum, fortified wine, brown butter, and a mini maple mousse pancake garnish
• Gamma-ray Holiday: Gin base with melon, pineapple, citrus, bitter gourd, and soda

Funny enough, this bar was actually recommended by my friend Tabby from the last time Dom and I were here in Singapore. So, I sent her a photo like, “Guess where I am.” Somehow, she was literally right around the corner. What started off as a casual night at Night Hawk quickly turned into a full local bar hopping adventure!

Sago House (9/10)

Our next stop was Sago House, and it was such a vibe. Imagine your cool cousin’s hip basement bar that accidentally became the spot to go. Sago House is ranked number 15 on Asia’s 50 best bars in 2024, and Art of Hospitality Award in 2023. The cocktail menu rotates weekly using fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. This makes every visit feel like a brand new experience.

Sago House’s cocktail menu usually consist of 6 different drinks that fit a range of 6 categories: Strong and Boozy, Sours, Daisies, Highballs, Tropicals, and an experimental drink. Some of the ones we got to try this time are:

• Sesame Negroni: sesame infused gin, cucumber Campari, rosso vermouth
• Don’t go bacon my heart: Mezcal washed with bacon, tequila, root-beer bitters
• Acute Angel: – Calvados, apricot liqueur, White wine aperitif, light fruity yet refined

As someone who may or may not have tried every single drink on the menu that night, all I can say is that the drinks here are dangerously good. Make sure to also visit their iconic washroom as well, because it is such a vibe!

Cat Bite Club (9.2/10)

Our last spot of the night is Cat Bite Club. Opened since 2023, this cat-themed speakeasy is located behind heavy curtains in the back of a little coffee shop. Past the curtains, the room opens into a dimly lit bar adorned with cat motifs everywhere. It’s playful, intimate, and tons of fun. Displayed on the shelves of the wall is their collection of more than 200 bottles of agave and rice spirits, a showcase of the bar’s specialty.

Naturally, their rotating cocktail menu revolve around these two spirits, with each classic cocktail reimagined in both agave and rice form. The drinks (around S$24+ each) are super light and refreshing, definitely the kind that I can sip all night long. Some we got to try included:

• Cat Bite Margarita: A signature margarita featuring tequila & mezcal, agave nectar, sherry, and citrus blend.
• Soju Sprint: A refreshing rice-spirit cocktail made with soju, peach, honey, mint & citrus blend.
• Hulk Splash: Smooth tequila-based cocktail with kiwi, citrus blend & Fernet Hunter Granit.

Cat Bite Club has happy hour from 5 PM – 7 PM every day, with discounted cocktails and highballs. This was the perfect spot to end the night for us, chatting and laughing over cocktails and shots.

Choon Hoy Parlor 春花館 (9/10)

For dinner after my meet and greet, I‘m keeping the foodie adventure going and bringing my besties to some of my new favorite spots here in Singapore. One of those spots is Choon Hoy Parlor 春花館, a Singaporean soul food restaurant that instantly feels like home. Listed by The Straits Times as Best Mid-Priced Restaurant of 2024, this is a must try when you’re visiting in Singapore.

They’re particularly known for their baijiu (白酒) cocktails. Baijiu is traditional Chinese grain liquor. Choon Hoy actually has the largest baijiu collection in the world outside of China, and they know how to create with them. They have everything from Baijiu House Pour to unique Baijiu cocktails. Imagine your classic cocktails like Gin and Tonic, but with a Chinese herbal and floral twist, like these:

• Jing & Tonic: A signature cocktail using baijiu paired with tonic, goji, and berries, presenting the tradition in modern form.
• La Teh’ Time: Cocktail blending kopi (local coffee) with Maotai/baijiu and chocolatey finish.
• Pandan Coconut Highball: pandan essence, haizhilan, coconut water, and soda

However, if I’m being honest, I’m really here for the food, with nostalgic, classic Singaporean recipes like pork satay (S$16.90). My must order is their Claypot Dry Laksa (S$18.90). It is smoky, savory, packed with that umami flavor from the prawn and rempah sauce. Of course, their Hainanese Kampung Chicken (S$18.90 for half) infused with ginger and other spices. It is tender, juicy, and so flavorful that I genuinely think this is one of the best Hainan chicken here in Singapore.

Nutmeg and Clove (10/10)

After dinner, our next stop is my absolute favorite bar in Singapore, Nutmeg and Clove. The last time I came here, I instantly knew I had to bring my friends back. Listed No. 24 of Asia’s 50 Best Bars in 2025, Nutmeg and Clove’s is inspired by Singapore’s history. There’s vintage posters of various historical locations on the wall, and the space feels like a living archive of Singapore’s past told through its flavors, stories, and spirits.

Nutmeg & Clove’s cocktails are bold, polished, and often a little cheeky. Every few months, they release a uniquely themed cocktail menu. Let’s just say after trying more than 10 cocktails here, not one has ever disappointed me. Here’s some of their fun cocktails (S$25++):

• Agnes’ Requiem: Gin (Monkey 47) with raspberry eau de vie, rhubarb, orchid & jasmine.
• Yam Seng: Mezcal (Montelobos Espadín Joven) with lemongrass, pandan, taro, lemon & egg white for silky finish.
• Don’t Chicken Out: Rum (Bacardi Añejo Cuatro), Jerez Fino, sherry, cucumber, Hainanese chilli & a dash of MSG. Playful take on local chicken-rice culture.

Their drinks are deliciously fun, but so are their bar snacks. Their menu includes snacks like papadam, fries, and more. There’s nothing better than sharing a cocktails with friends over some hot truffle fries (S$16) covered in shredded cheese. You definitely have to save room for the Rendang Mac and Cheese (S$20). It is rich, spicy, creamy. I literally been thinking about it ever since I had it. I think I seriously need to recreate it in my own kitchen soon.

So, trust me when I say this, Nutmeg and Clove is a must-add spot to your Singapore itinerary. It is hands down my favorite bar here and one that’ll keep coming back again and again. This is one of those places that just sticks with you. The energy, the people, and the creativity in every single drink and dish.

Long Bar 

Inside the Raffles Hotel, Long Bar keeps its century-old charm alive with rattan chairs, dark wood, and slow ceiling fans. It’s casual, classic, and just a little mischievous. Winning the Timeless International Award at the Spirited Awards 2023, every part of Long Bar reflects Singapore’s unique colonial history, from the vintage sugarcane press to the tradition of peanut shells tossed on the floor. It’s a ton of fun! Walking around, you feel the crunch of the shells under your feet.

When it comes to cocktails, Long Bar is the place to go for the classics. It’s the birthplace of the Singapore Sling, still mixed here with gin, cherry liqueur, Benedictine, Cointreau, pineapple and lime juice. They’re sweet, aromatic, and unapologetically old-school. The rest of the menu leans toward well-crafted staples rather than experiments. You can sit at the bar and watch the bartenders shake row after row of Slings. If you’re in Singapore, definitely come experience the traditions here at Long Bar, but come in early, because it’s walk-in only.

No. 5 Emerald Hill Cocktail Bar 

After an exciting day of F1 festivities, we ended our night at No. 5 Emerald Hill Cocktail Bar for some cocktails. This is another spot recommended by Tabby, and turned out to be the most perfect night ever. The bar is ocated inside a classic Peranakan-style building, giving it that old Singapore charm. Opened in 1991, No. 5 Emerald Hill is one of Singapore’s first cocktail bars.

The cocktail to get here at No. 5 Emerald Hill is definitely their iconic range of martinis. Some are classics, while others are uniquely flavored, like the lychee martini and earl grey martini. The drinks are made better by the fact that they have the longest happy hour in Singapore. It was the perfect place to chat the night away after the excitement of our day.

Atlas Bar

We ended our last night in Singapore at the iconic Atlas Bar, ranked No. 43 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024. It honestly feels like stepping straight into the Great Gatsby. High ceilings, golden art decor, tons of beautiful designs on the wall and a gin tower that literally reaches the ceiling. Every detail is elegant, from the decor to the menu design, I just had to sit there and soak it all in.

Since there’s a giant gin tower, of course they specialize in gin drinks. There are over 1300 gins, one of the largest collections in the world, as well as a wide selection of champagnes. Their menu includes an extensive range of gin and tonic, martinis, and classic cocktails. We got to try everything from their classics, to the Zaz Zuni Zaz, a seasonal peach green tea cognac cocktail.

We added a few snacks to our drinks: a jamón ibérico starter (S$24) layered with melon, smoked almonds, and crisp sage, and a bowl of shoestring fries (S$14) served with horseradish bacon mayo. The mix of salty, sweet, and smoky was exactly what our cocktails needed.

Atlas was the perfect place to end this amazing trip in Singapore. Open from noon till midnight, it’s best to make a reservation ahead of time, because it gets busy fast. They do have a dress code after 5 PM, so make sure skip the shorts and slippers!
