Top Attractions in Singapore in 1 Day With Me
I’m finally back to Singapore seven years after my graduation trip with Dom, and I’m so glad to be back! From Maxwell Food Center to Gardens By The Bay, we catch as many top attractions as we can in Singapore in 1 day!
My Singapore Adventure Day Itinerary
To make it easier for you when you do visit, I’ve collected this Singapore in 1 day itinerary in a Google Maps list for you to save on your own phone!
Breakfast: Buffet At Mosella
To get us prepped for a day of adventuring, I’m starting my day with the Breakfast Buffet at Mosella downstairs from our hotel. Wow! If there’s one thing that Asia does best, it is food. Trust me when I say, I came down on time almost every single day because I never wanted to miss out on breakfast.
Looking at Mosella’s breakfast spread, honestly I wanted to try every single thing here. You have your choice from a super wide assortment of perfectly cut fruit, beautifully arranged cold cuts, and hot breakfast items. They also have a spectacular hot bar, with staff cooking soup dishes for you right in front of your eyes. Can you believe that we were able to get freshly cooked Laksa at the breakfast buffet?
Everything here was so fresh, and beautifully prepared! Mosella has their breakfast daily from 6:30am to 10:30am. Definitely try out this awesome breakfast buffet for yourself if you ever find yourself in the area!
Asia’s Largest Bird Park: Mandai Bird Paradise
Our first stop of the day was Bird Paradise, a Asia’s largest bird park within Singapore’s Mandai Wildlife Reserve. It was definitely a paradise! This wildlife reserve is so educational! You get to walk around explore and learn about each species and steps to preserve their habitat. We even got a chance to feed them!
Being in different areas of the park is like being in a different world entirely! Full transparency – I am terrified of birds! They’re beautiful, but there’s so many birds here! I was so scared, I had to run out of there and go visit the penguin area instead. The penguins were so cute, and honestly my favorite! Before heading out, I also grabbed a cute little red bean penguin bao as a snack!
This is a super educational and interactive place to take your kids to visit, or just to learn more about Singapore’s natural fauna! Tickets to the Bird Paradise are S$49 for adults, and S$34 for kids, so don’t miss out!
Lunch: Laksa 3 Course Meal at Crimson
After walking around and taking everything in the Bird Paradise, we had lunch at one of the most beautiful views of the park at Crimson. Located inside Hong Leong Foundation Crimson Wetlands, this restaurant is decorated with tons of flamingo motif. Outside, you can see macaws fly in freely their natural wetland habitat.
The three-course meal here at Crimson costs S$58 per person, and includes a choice of appetizer, main course, and dessert. I chose seared scallops as my appetizer, and a strawberries mille feuille as dessert. For my main dish, I of course had to choose Laksa. These bowls of thick vermicelli noodles in coconut curry topped with king prawns and tofu are spectacular! So flavorful, and super satisfying.
Last night was our first time meeting each other after we all just traveled 20 plus hours. So, it was honestly so nice to spend quality time fully charged. It’s not often you get a chance to share a meal with someone new and just chat, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company in the moment over our giant bowls of Laksa at Crimson.
The Jewel Of Changi International Airport
We dropped by to take a closer look at one of Asia’s largest airports, Changi International Airport. This also must be one of the world’s PRETTIEST airports! Of course, you can’t be inside the airport if you’re not taking a flight, but you can be inside the Jewel, a central mall and greenhouse area open to the public. Possibly one of the most iconic views of Singapore, the Jewel contains the world largest indoor waterfall at its center.
Walking along the bridge so high up, feeling the waterfall and watching crowds of people moving in and out in the building is fascinating. What’s even cooler is seeing this happen inside basically an indoor forest: Shiseido Forest Valley! I felt immersed in the greenery everywhere within this airport. Set aside some time for the airport, because there’s plenty to explore in the public areas, from art to shopping to gardens. If you’re traveling through – even better!
Afternoon Snack: Maxwell Food Center
We have an hour and a half break before we go to Gardens by the Bay, so I figured, why not go grab some chicken and rice at Maxwell Food Center? This hawker center is PACKED with the best of Singapore’s hawker foods. The last time I got to try the best chicken and rice I’ve ever had was right here 10 years ago, and I’m so happy to be back.
Tiantian Hainanese Chicken Rice
Arriving at Maxwell Food Center, I went straight to Tiantian Hainanese Chicken Rice. There’s so many delicious chicken and rice spots in Singapore, but I am finally reunited with the one and only Tiantian Chicken and Rice! It’s THE DEFINITION of “simple is best”. Started in 1987, this hawker stand is also a Michelin-recommended location!
Their chicken is poached to tender perfection and served over flavor-packed rice cooked in chicken broth and ginger. It comes with slices of cucumber and a braised egg, and covered with their signature sauce. I can easily eat this every single day. Be sure to come by after lunch time around 2 pm, because the lines can get long!
Champion Bolo Bao
I decided to walk around for a little dessert, and came across one of the best bolo bao, or pineapple buns, I’ve EVER had at Champion Bolo Bao. This quaint little shop serves different versions of sweet buns with a bunch of different teas and coffees. It’s super cute,
I got their classic bolo bun with butter (S$5.55), served with a flat slab of butter, and also their classic lemon ice tea (S$6). I was genuinely so surprised – the golden butter crust covers a soft sweet bun with the butter slab melting slowly inside. The contrast of texture was seriously so irresistible.
It was a 10 out of 10, highly recommend trying! In the hot sun, taking a bite of bolo bao and washing it down with ice cold lemon tea is really a treat. Champion is really close to Maxwell Center, so it’s the perfect dessert after some hawker stand food.
Gardens By The Bay
Our next destination is Gardens by the Bay, Singapore’s legendary natural park with an iconic supertree view of Marina Bay Sands. It’s incredible to think that this park is in the middle of the city, because Gardens By The Bay truly looked like a garden in the skies.
Singapore is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. being here reminded me when I was traveling as a student with my husband, and we promised each other we would come back one day. Walking around in these gardens and indoor waterfalls reminds me so much of this promise. I can’t wait to come back again with him!
Exploring the attractions around Gardens By The Bay, we learned so many new things about Singapore’s habitat today while bonding over the beauty around us. Traveling with these girls this trip made me feel like I went back in time on an empowering girls’ field trip where we instantly clicked and friendship and memories were made every moment!
Dinner: Family Style Dining at Rempapa
We ended our day of adventuring with Michelin Recommended Family Style Dining at Rempapa, featuring cuisines from various ethnic cultures in Singapore. We ordered a bit of everything: Beef Rendang, Nasi Goreng, Kueh Pie Tie, and more. Honestly, nothing’s better than family-style dining and passing plates around the table with a group of friends!
The beef rendang was intensely flavorful and melt in your mouth! It had a little heat to it, but it was perfect to finish with a bowl of rice. I also really loved the Kueh Pie Tie, which are pastry shells filled with turnips, vegetables, and eggs. They’re a little spicy-sweet, but such a satisfyingly crunchy bite.
I enjoyed every bit of my food here at Rempapa, but with jet lag after a whole day of running around Singapore, I was ready to head to bed. Next time, I’m going to come back and give a more complete review of my experience!
