My 7-11 Taiwan Road Trip Snack Haul
Here’s my Taiwan 7-11 Road Trip Snack Haul! We’re taking a road trip from Taoyuan to Kaohsiong today. Of course, we’ll need some road trip snacks from 7-11. Here’s all of my favorite snacks from Taiwan’s convenience stores, from my favorite milk puffs to some of the best instant noodles!
Kaohsiung Road Trip Convenience Store Break
It’s road trip time! We’re heading out on a road trip today to Kaohsiung from Taoyuan. There’s a lot of driving today, since we also have to pick up my mom from Hsinchu. In total, we have about 4.5 hours of driving before meeting up with my sister and her husband. On these way, I’m enjoying my go-to chia seed electrolyte while doing some work. It’s my healthy travel hack!
I love road trips especially in Taiwan, because my dad use to take us everywhere all the time. From Sun Moon Lake to Tainan, he’s introduced us to some of our favorite spots on these drives. Remembering those long drives sharing snacks and singing along to songs makes me feel like he’s right there again. Stopping at the convenience stores and rest stops just makes me feel like a kid again, excited for the snacks I’m going to get.
Snacks
On these trips, we would buy a ton of different snacks from 7-11 to try in the car or take back to our hotel. Here’s some of our absolute favorites!
I Mei Mini Cream Puffs義美小泡芙
Of course, we have to start with my all-time favorite childhood snacks: I Mei Mini Cream Puffs義美小泡芙. These mini cream puffs are the OG Taiwanese sweet treats. They come in several different flavors: milk, strawberry, chocolate, milk tea, coffee, and dark chocolate. They’re perfectly bite sized and so fun to pop into your mouth. They make me feel like a kid again!
Cadina Steak Flavored Chips
Next, is the Cadina Steak Flavored Chips 卡迪那洋芋片牛排口味. Candina is one of Taiwan’s first and largest chip brands, specializing inpotato and veggie chips. They come out with a ton of different creative flavors each year, but their classics always hits the spot! Their steak flavor tastes super meaty and a bit sweet. The chips themselves are really crunchy and really thin, it feels like nothing to finish the bag. They’re available at basically every supermarket or convenience store in Taiwan. It’s cheap, reliable, and super tasty.
Pringles Japanese Curry
If you didn’t know, Pringle’s are also popular in Taiwan. They’re known for their reliable chips and more balanced seasoning compared to the thick powders of flavors in other brands. They have all the usual classic flavors in Taiwan, like original, sour cream and onion, and cheese, but also seaweed, an Asia classic. But, they have some fun seasonal flavors as well. Today, we’re trying rich Japanese curry flavor. It actually does remind me of a bowl of Japanese curry!
Lay’s Kobe thick-cut Steak Chips
You can also get really luxurious chip flavors in 7-11, like this super thick Lay’s Kobe Thick-cut Steak flavor. At 50 NTD per bag, they’re definitely on the more premium side. Inspired by super high quality Japanese Kobe Steaks, these chips might just trick your brain into almost tasting steak. They have particularly thick cut chips to give it that dense crunch. The seasoning is super savory and umami-packed. In fact, this flavor is a lot more savory compared to the Cadina version. But, this one can be on the saltier side, so make sure to grab a cold drink!
Drinks
Did you know you can even get alcohol from Taiwan’s convenience stores? My family and I also enjoy a little drink at the end of the night while watching TV and enjoying snacks, particularly after a road trip. On our way, we stock up on some beers or other alcoholic beverages for later!
Kavalan Whiskey
If you’re a whiskey lover, Taiwan has a whiskey for you. Kavalan is a single malt whiskey that’s made in Yilan since 2005. This award-winning whiskey is one of Taiwan’s pride and joy, and one of my favorites. Their Classic Whiskey is a bit sweet and fruity, super smooth, and doesn’t have as much of that whiskey burn that happens. It is available in various sizes at convenience stores, so you don’t have to worry about having to finish a whole bottle. If you love mixed drinks, you can always buy a few more mixers at 7-11!
Of course, you need to be 18 to purchase alcohol in Taiwan. Also, DO NOT drink and drive!
Instant Noodles
The best part about road trip rest stop convenience store is that there’s always time for an instant noodle break, especially after hours of driving. With a little bit of hot water and a few minutes, you can fill up on some really tasty noodles. There’s just something about slurping up noodles at a rest stop that really makes a memorable road trip experience.
Weiwei Yipin Beef Noodle Soup 味味一品
One of my favorite noodles to enjoy here is actually Weiwei Yipin 味味一品. They’re about NTD $53 for a bowl, so it’s a little fancy. But, it’s worth it because this noodle actually won one star for the Superior Taste Award in 2025 from the International Taste Institute in Brussels. They’re known for their rich, flavorful broths, spiced with Chinese herbs for that extra flavor. It’s a big bowl of noodles that easily fills you up, perfect if you’ve had 3 hours of driving.
They have 6 flavors total: 4 different beef noodle flavors, one pork flavor, and one spicy stinky tofu flavor. My favorite is their beef noodle flavors, but they’re all worth a try!
Instant dried Noodles 維力炸醬麵
Wei Lih Men Instant Noodles 維力炸醬麵 is the oldest instant noodle in Taiwan, and it’s also my dad’s ALL TIME favorite instant noodle. These super simple noodles come with a fermented bean paste and a soup packet. You can enjoy your dried noodles, and make the soup separately. They usually come in a little pack, but for NTD$35 a bowl here, you get extra noodles for a total of 110 grams of noodles.
To make this noodle, you add hot water to the noodles. Once they are done, you can pour out the hot water separately for your soup. Sometimes, they also come with 2 bowls so you can have a bowl for soup and one for noodles. These are available in every convenience store, there’s no way you’ll miss them!
