My Seafood Pancake was inspired by the Shrimp Dumpling fillings you find at Dim-Sum restaurants.

I go to dim-sum, I always order Shrimp Dumplings. I especially love how the filling is packed with shrimp and is super juicy and savory.

Here is an easy version that requires no wrapping, doesn’t contain pork, and takes less than 20 minutes.

Seafood Pancake

Whenever I serve my Seafood Pancake at dinner parties, it is always a crowd-pleaser.

Not only do adults love it, the kids especially love it too! I like to serve the seafood pancake with sweet and sour sauce or plum sauce on the side as the perfect appetizer.

Depending on how many guests you have, you can also make the pancake into smaller bite-size pieces to serve as finger food.

ingredients

All you need to make seafood pancake is seafood, oyster sauce, white pepper, dashi powder, and cornstarch.

I am using vegetarian oyster sauce today as I find it to be slightly sweeter, which helps enhance the flavourful of the pancake.

For the seafood, I am using prawns, scallops, and squid, but you can use any seafood of your choice!

If you are gluten-free or keto, you can use gluten-free soy sauce instead of oyster sauce.

Oh my God these were SO GOOD!! They admittedly came out more like “patties” than “pancakes,” but I don’t care, these were the bomb. Super easy, too! I followed the recipe to a T and used only shrimp as my protein. Absolutely stunning. Even my roommate (a SE Asian immigrant in NYC where we live) was super impressed and said it was one of the best things he’d ever had.

A few things that I think made a huge difference: 1-do not omit/substitute the white pepper or dashi powder. 2-chop your seafood into varying sizes to keep an interesting texture. I used a food processor and pulverized some while keeping other batches more intact. 3-pat your seafood dry before you chop/mince it.

Absolutely delicious. I will 100% make again!!!
