Welcome to Day 19 of my first series – Cooking Dinner for 21 Days! You know those dishes that you just HAVE to recommend to people because it is THAT good? Well, this is it! HELLO, PLEASE TRY THIS RECIPE; it was honestly SO SO SO SO SO good. My fiancé was also blown away by how good the house smelled when he walked in the door! It will 100% be part of our weekly weeknight dinners.
Bulgogi is my go-to dish when I visit Korean restaurants. I always was too intimidated to make this dish, and there are so many complex flavors, but I am telling you now, it is super easy to make at home, and you can even use this marinate for BBQ parties in the future as well.
The kiwi was my secret weapon; it adds a slight tang to a sweet, spicy, and savory dish, which made it so perfect. I made it into a rice bowl with marinated cucumber, kimchi, saute veggies, and a fried egg, but feel free to build your own perfect Bulgogi Bowl.
60 SECONDS VIDEO TUTORIAL: https://bit.ly/3dqNbdx
Ingredients
2 pieces of Steak of your choice sliced thinly (I used Prime Rib today)
1/2 Onion Sliced
5 Green Onion (chopped separately by the white and green)
6 cloves of Garlic (chopped)
3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
3 Tbsp of Mirin
1 Tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Korean Chilli Paste
2 Tbsp of Sugar
2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
1 Tbsp of Honey
1 Tsp of Black Pepper
1 whole Kiwi (grated)
- Cut the Steak diagonally into super thin slices. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, dark soy sauce, honey, Korean chili paste, sugar, sesame oil, black pepper, garlic, and the white part of the green onion. Now toss in the beef and onion and mix, ensuring all the meat is covered in the sauce. Set aside in the fridge for at least 1 hour or even overnight.
- In a pan, drizzle in oil and turn the heat to medium-high. Once the pan is hot add in all your beef and let it sit for 30 seconds. After sauté together for 2-3 minutes, make sure not to overcook the meat.
- Finally, add in sesame seeds and green onion and sauté for another 30 seconds.
- Make your own rice bowl with a side of sauté veggies, kimchi, cucumber salad and egg!!
