Holy Basil: a Thai Stir Fry MUST HAVE
Every time I find Thai Holy Basil at the market, I want to make this Thai basil pork. Without the distinctive aroma of basil in this dish, it’s simply missing something. Compared with typical sweet basil, Thai holy basil has a more peppery taste that fits quite well with the other spicy flavors in the sauce. But, if you can’t find Thai Basil near you. sweet basil works well too!

How To Cook Holy Basil Pork Stir Fry
- Add ground meat to the pan in a wok or large skillet, and saute for 5-6 minutes on medium-high heat or until brown, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
- Next, add chopped green beans, minced garlic, and chopped chilies. Stir-fry until fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- Next, drizzle on soy sauce, oyster sauce, and honey. Toss everything together for 1–2 minutes until glossy and coated.
- Finally, turn the heat to high, and toss in the Thai basil leaves. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until the basil is wilted.
- Optional, but highly recommended: Heat a little oil in a separate pan over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the pan and fry them until the whites are crispy but the yolks are still runny. Set aside.
- Serve the Pad Kra Pao over steamed rice and top it with the fried egg

I made this last night and it came out incredible! I threw in way more basil than it called for, but was so worth it.
