When the football game is on, we love a spread of Asian-inspired game day beer snacks. Game day is the best time for street food–inspired snacks at home, from crispy finger foods, juicy skewers, and refreshing shared dips between plays. These appetizer recipes are some of Dom and I’s favorites to make during football season. They’re super fun, shareable, and guaranteed to keep the energy high all night long.

Asian Game Night Snacks
Crispy Finger Foods
Crispy Salt and Pepper Shrimp
Crispy Salt and Pepper Shrimp is hands down one of my favorite dishes to pair with drinks on game day. The shrimp and its shell fries up light and crunchy. It’s got the right amount of salt, pepper, and chili for that addictive kick. I love serving this when friends come over! It’s the kind of snack everyone dives into with their hands. Before you know it, the whole plate is gone. Honestly, nothing beats crispy shrimp with an ice-cold beer while the game is on.

- 1.5 lb Shrimp deveined
- 1/2 cup Rice Flour
- 1/2 cup Corn Starch
- 5 cloves Garlic minced
- 1 Jalapeno chopped
- 4 Tbsp Butter
- 1.5 Tsp Sea Salt
- 1.5 Tsp Black Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Sichuan Pepper Powder

Sticky Chiili Lime Wings
Sticky Chili Lime Wings are my go-to when I want something bold and addictive to snack on with friends. They’re pan-fried instead of deep-fried. You still get that crispy bite, without the mess. The mix of garlic, chili, and fresh lime makes them so flavorful you’ll definitely want a second round. I always make a big batch because they disappear fast once the drinks start flowing. They’re the kind of snack that keeps everyone reaching back to the plate during the game.

- 2 lbs chicken wings about 900g
- 2.5 tbsp soy sauce
- 1.5 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp Oil for pan-frying
- 2 shallots thinly sliced
- 6 cloves garlic minced
- 1-2 Thai red chilies finely chopped (adjust to heat preference)
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro plus more for garnish
- 2 tbsp Lime juice about 1 lime

Taiwanese Popcorn Mushroom
Taiwanese Popcorn Mushroom is one of those snacks I can never stop eating once I start. The mushrooms are deep-fried until golden and crunchy on the outside, but still juicy on the inside, and every bite is packed with flavor. What I love most is that it’s vegetarian-friendly and naturally gluten-free, so everyone at the table can dig in without feeling like they’re missing out. It’s the kind of addictive, crispy snack that goes hand in hand with drinks and cheers.

- 0.5 lb Fresh Oyster Mushroom
- 2.5 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp Garlic Minced
- 1 Tbsp Five Spice Powder
- 1 Egg Large
- 3.5 Tbsp Rice Flour
- 1.5 Cup Thai Basil
- 2 Cup Tapioca Starch

Chips and Dips
Creamy Salmon Poke 2 Way
Salmon Poke 2 Way is one of my go-to appetizers when I’m hosting because it’s light, refreshing, and comes together in under 15 minutes. I like serving both the creamy and the spicy gochujang versions so everyone can pick their favorite. The salmon is rich and buttery, the masago adds a little pop, and the Japanese mayo makes it extra indulgent. I usually set it out with chips, crispy seaweed, or crackers so it’s easy to scoop while watching the game

- 1 pound Sashimi-grade Salmon
- 1/3 cup masago
- 4 tbsp Japanese Mayo
- 1.5 tbsp Gochujang Optional
- 1-2 stalk green onion chopped
- 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp black sesame seeds
- 1/2 Cucumber
- Crispy Seaweed to serve

Green Onion Dumpling Chips
Green Onion Dumpling Chips are light, crispy, and dangerously easy to snack on during a game. The dumpling wrappers fry up in just minutes, and the fresh green onion adds that savory kick that keeps you reaching for more. The best part? It only takes 5 minutes and 3 ingredients. They’re super versatile, so you can serve them with creamy dips, spicy chili oil, or even enjoy them plain. They’re quick, satisfying, and always one of the first plates to disappear when friends come over.

- 20 Dumpling Wrappers
- 3 Green Onion chopped
- Salt
- Sesame Seeds

Crab Rangoon Dip with Wonton Chips
There’s nothing more fun than bringing out a bubbling hot Crab Rangoon Dip with a big bowl of homemade wonton chips while the game is on. The dip is rich, cheesy, and loaded with chunks of fresh crab meat. It always feels a little extra special compared to the usual spreads. I like making it ahead of time so all I need to do is bake it until it’s golden and gooey right before everyone arrives. It’s the kind of snack that keeps people gather around, scooping until the dish is completely clean.

- 300 g Fresh Crab Meat
- 3 Green Onion chopped
- 250 g Cream Cheese
- 6 tbsp Japanese Mayo
- 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 tbsp Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2.5 tbsp Soy Sauce
- ½ cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- 30 Wonton Wrappers

Taiwanese Braised Cold Dish
Taiwanese Braised Cold Dish, or 滷味, is one of those appetizers that is always a hit when I invite friends over for game nights. I grew up seeing big platters of braised tofu, egg, and seaweed at night markets and street food stalls. It’s such a classic Taiwanese drinking snack. Everything is slowly simmered until the flavors soak all the way through, then served chilled with a garlicky dipping sauce that keeps you reaching back for more. I love how easy it is to share, and it’s the kind of dish that disappears fast when you set it out.

- 6 tbsp Four season scallion sauce
- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
- 3 Star Anise
- 2 Bay Leaf
- 3 dried shittake mushroom
- 1 tsp Sichuan Peppercorn
- 1-2 cup Water
Braising Ingredients
- Kelp
- Hard Boiled Egg
- Medium-firm Tofu

Yuzu Edamame Salad
10-Minute Yuzu Sesame Edamame Chopped Salad is one of my latest favorite refreshing snacks to enjoy with drinks. Edamame is already a classic beer snack in Japan, but tossing it with crisp veggies and a tangy yuzu sesame dressing takes it to the next level. It’s light, zesty, and so easy to scoop up with a crunchy chip. I love how every bite is bright and citrusy. It’s a veggie-heavy palette cleanser between other fried snacks on the table.

- 1 ½ cups edamame cooked and shelled
- 1 cup cucumber finely chopped
- 2 green onions thinly sliced
- ¼ cup red onion finely diced
- 1 tbsp roasted sesame seeds
- 1.5 tsp sesame oil
- 4 tbsp kai dong Yuzu Sesame Dressing to taste
- 1 tsp furikake seasoning or more as desired

Sizzling Skewers
Japanese Chicken Skewers
Japanese Chicken Skewers, also known as Yakitori, are one of my go-to drinking snacks, especially with a big glass of beer. Yakitori is simple, flavorful, and easy to eat while chatting with friends. It is one of the best snacks to serve when you’re hosting at home. Every time I visit an izakaya, I have to order a few skewers. There’s just something about juicy chicken and fragrant green onion glazed in a sweet-savory sauce. It’s such a classic combo that instantly sets the mood for a fun night of cheering for your team.

Spicy Rice Cake Skewers
These Tteok Kkochi or spicy Korean rice cake skewers make an amazing game day snack! They’re hearty, handheld, and so fun to eat. Surprisingly, this skewer dish only takes 5 ingredients. The chewy rice cakes are pan-fried until crispy and golden brown. The sweet-spicy glaze delivers bold, spicy flavor that’s perfect to wash down with an ice-cold beer. On skewers, they’re so easy to grab without breaking the flow of the game!

- 50 Rice Cakes
- 3 tbsp Gochujang
- 1.5 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1.5 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds

My friends and I turned halftime into a mini food fest with Korean rice cakes and fried chicken thanks to this post!
