Cooking A Family Dinner Feast for 15 People
Dom’s grandma is visiting us this week, and I’m so excited to be cooking a 14 course feast for her! It’s a big meal, but my mom was there to help me plan, shop, and prep everything. I made all of my signature dishes, from BBQ Soy Glazed Ribs to Cheesy Baked Napa Cabbage. We even snuck in 2 different flavors of salmon poke!
To add some veggies into this meal, I added this super simple asparagus shrimp stir fry. It’s easy, and takes no time at all from prep to serving – perfect way to add a little something extra to a meal.
Shrimp Asparagus Stir Fry Ingredients
- 1 pound shrimp
- 1 bundle asparagus
- 1 tbsp oil
- ¼ cup vegetable stock
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp sesame oil
- ⅛ tsp white pepper
- ¼ tsp sugar

Fresh or Frozen Shrimp
I love using shrimp for a speedy stir fry because it cooks so quickly. Shrimp is high in protein, low in calories, and rich in selenium, vitamin B12, and iodine. You can use fresh or frozen shrimp for the recipe. I really wanted this stir-fry to be effortless to eat. So, for this recipe, I removed all of the shell, even the tail. Before you cook, make sure to also devein them as well, so you won’t get any sandy, gritty textures.

Asparagus
Asparagus is an incredible vegetable to pair with shrimp. It is rich in vitamins A, C, and K, and high in antioxidants. This bright veggie also cook pretty fast – just like the shrimp. Cutting them into 2-3 inch long sections makes them easy to cook to a tender texture.
Asparagus can have tough and woody ends, so I like to snap off the very end of each stalk. If the stalks are a little on the thicker side and hard to chew, I also sometimes shave off a bit of the skin from the ends. This exposes the more tender and tasty stem.

Sesame Soy Stir Fry Sauce
To finish this yummy stir fry, everything gets coated in the most delicious savory sauce. Seasoned with soy sauce, sugar, and white pepper, this savory, slightly-peppery sauce has every flavor you need to bring out that natural sweetness of shrimp. The sesame oil, on the other hand, gives it an extra appetizing aroma. Finally, the cornstarch in thickens the sauce so it clings onto the shrimp and asparagus.

How To Make Shrimp Asparagus Stir Fry
- Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the vegetable stock, cornstarch, soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, and sugar. Set aside.
- Cook the Shrimp: Heat the cooking oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and sauté for 3-4 minutes, or until pink.
- Cook the Asparagus: In the same pan, add the asparagus and sauté for 2-3 minutes until tender.
- Combine and Finish: Drizzle the sauce and pour it into the pan, tossing everything together. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
