I LOVE EGGS; I love eggs so much that I have them every single day, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner. However, making GOOD eggs can be very tricky.
One of the EASIEST ways to enjoy fluffy and tasty eggs delicious every single time is to make Korean Steamed Eggs – Gyeran Jjim. Korean Steamed Eggs is a popular side dish that takes less than 15 minutes to make and is also super affordable. Fluffy, light, and filled with umami flavors, give these tasty Korean Steamed Eggs a try, and it might also be your go-to side dish!
Since starting this new series where I recreate recipes from my favorite Korean drama, I knew I would have endless options from my all-time favorite foodie drama – Let’s Eat.
Like mentioned before, every episode will leave you drooling and wanting to eat your screen. Luckily, Korean Steamed Eggs takes less than 15 minutes to make, so when I saw this episode, I got up at 11 pm and made myself this fluffy bowl of eggs and paired it with a hot bowl of rice. Both my fiance and I were very satisfied and went to sleep with a smile on our faces.
There are so many ways to make Korean Steamed Eggs at home. There are soupy versions, microwave versions, and steamed versions.
Today, I share my favorite method, cooked in a Ttukbaegi – Korean Clat pot on the stove. Ttukbaegi can be found at most local Korean grocery stores, and there are also alot of affordable options on Amazon (linked). It is super convenient to have a Ttukbaegi at home, and they are also low maintenance and easy to take care of.
Korean Steamed Eggs makes perfect side dishes for spicy food and savory meat, but it also makes an excellent healthy light breakfast.
I am using fish sauce today to give it the extra umami flavor, but you can substitute it for soy sauce if you don’t like the taste. I LOVE dashi stock, so it is also my go-to stock since it gives so much depth to the dish. However, you can also use chicken stock or vegetable stock, depending on your diet and what you have on hand.
