SIN To YVR: Airport Lounge & Airplane Food Review

Come with me on a 24-hour travel day Airport Lounge and Airplane Food Review from Singapore to Vancouver, with a 5 hour layover in Taipei. From the buffets of Airport Lounges in Singapore Changi Airport and Taiwan’s Taoyuan Airport, to China Airline’s in-flight Michelin meals and boba tea, here’s everything I got to eat on our 24 hour travel day.

Singapore to Vancouver: Our Flight Route

We are finally flying home from our amazing trip in Singapore. This time in Singapore, we got to go to Universal Studio Singapore, eat so many delicious chicken rice, go on a local Singapore cocktail bar hop, and meeting so many of you at my first meet and greet! The best part was taking my best friends around Singapore, and introducing all these fun spots to them!

This time, we are flying from Singapore to Vancouver with China Airlines. We have a 5 hour layover in Taipei, where we also got to visit the China Airline Lounge. I may be biased, but I swear Asian Airlines have the best food ever. After 24 hours of good food, movies, and naps, we are finally home in Vancouver! Here’s everything we ate in 24 hours of flying!

Changi Airport marhaba Lounge

We are starting our travels home at Changi Airport. Before heading to the lounge, we had to pick up some last minute gifts. Changi Airport is amazing for shopping, from named brands to all sorts of local souvenirs. We grabbed some tea from TWG tea, as well as some coffee from Bacha Coffee.

Next, we took a break at the Changi Airport Marhaba Lounge, located in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. This lounge is both accessible via airline partnerships, lounge passes, or paid entry. They have an assortment of food to choose from, ranging from curries to pastas and salads. Oh my goodness, maybe we’re just hungry, but the Japanese Katsu Curry here actually hit the spot.

China Airlines Business Class: SIN to TPE

At last, we boarded our 5 hour flight to Taipei! With China Airline’s Business Class, our flight starts with some fresh juices and cold appetizer. These appetizers include a stuffed tomato, a shrimp lettuce wrap, and a little bruschetta toast. They are actually super refreshing, and definitely got my appetite started for our lunch.

China Airline’s lunch menu has a few very delicious options thanks to local partnerships. For lunch, I had to try the Stir-fried Salted Egg Yolk Chicken with Steamed Rice, from the iconic MICHELIN Guide Keng Eng Kee Seafood (KEK), home of one of my favorite Singaporean Chili Crab. The meal comes with a salad, bread rolls, and fresh fruit. This was a really enjoyable lunch!

My lunch was pretty tasty, But when Dom’s Chicken Curry Noodle Soup came, I instantly regret my decision. Wow, this was actually so tasty. The broth was very rich with deep curry flavor. The noodles were super bouncy, and the chicken was perfectly tender. Dom’s meal came with the same salad, fruit, and bread as well!

I then treated myself to some Haagen-Dazs ice cream, and watched all of Big Hero 6, the ultimate comfort movie. For the rest of the flight, I took a nap to recharge!

Taipei Layover: China Airlines Lounge

We landed in Taiwan for a 5-hour layover, and headed straight to the China Airlines Lounge. I literally look forward to this every time I fly through the Taipei airport! I’m not kidding when I say this is my favorite airport lounge in the world. Besides a vast food and drink selection, they also have a chef making fresh noodle soup to order. I definitely look forward to this every time I come here. Dom and I each got their signature beef noodle soup, as well as their dry noodles and curry noodles. Of course, we’re in Taiwan, so we each grabbed ourselves a Taiwan Beer.

Pro tip. I started bringing a mini travel-size face wash and actually washing my face mid travel. It makes such a big difference, especially right before an 11-hour flight!

Taipei to Vancouver: China Airlines

Our final flight is an 11 hour flight from Taipei to Vancouver. I originally told myself that I’d skip dinner completely and just sleep through the flight. But, I saw their business class menu that was serving a Michelin Star Meal, plus boba tea options! I had to get a Sharetea brown sugar boba milk tea right away.

Obviously, I had to try their Skyward Michelin 3 Star Exclusive Cuisine. The meal comes with 4 super unique appetizers: Tomato with Lychee Jelly, Royal Roasted Chicken, Pomelo Marinated Radish, and Chayote Shoots in Sesame Sauce. The main course is a Simmered Chicken Porridge with Premium Abalone that was honestly a 10 out of 10. The porridge was silky rich and tasted like something I would actually order at a restaurant. After that satisfying dinner, I popped on a sheet mask, curled up, and finally slept for the rest of the flight.

Breakfast

I definitely slept through breakfasts, but Dom didn’t! Business class breakfast came with a main course of mini pancakes, with bacon, a rolled crepe, and salad. On the side, there’s bread, fresh fruit, and a cup of yogurt. Dom said the breakfast was actually pretty tasty, so next time, I’ll definitely have to try that! Eleven hours later, we finally landed home in Vancouver!
