Are you ready for this Super CRISPY and EASY Golden Prawn Pancake?
This Golden Prawn Pancake is CRISPY on the outside, JUICY, and flavorful inside.
Inspired by deep-fried shrimp pancakes in Taiwan’s night market, this Golden Prawn Pancake recipe is a MUST TRY appetizer.
PLUS, you can also air-fry or pan-fry these pancakes as well!

Whenever I go to Taiwanese Nightmarkets, I always have to order Golden Prawn Pancake.
The wrapper is fried till crispy and golden brown, while the filling is still super juicy and packed with umami flavors.
Imagine fried wontons but in a pancake form. Since there are more wrappers compared to wontons, it is also crispier.
If you don’t have wonton wrappers in hand, you can also use dumpling wrappers.

To make Golden Prawn Pancake, you will need peeled prawns, white pepper, sesame oil, green onion, oyster sauce, and my secret ingredient, dashi powder.
There are a few elements that make the filling extra unique and delicious.
The first is ALWAYS use hand-chopped prawns! I know it takes an additional 5 minutes, but hand chopping the prawns makes a world of difference.
The second is dashi powder. If you have never worked with dashi powder before, it is an instant stock that provides umami flavors.
A little dashi stock goes a long way.

You can also air-fry or pan-fry if you don’t want to fry the Golden Prawn Pancake deep.
Of course, deep-frying will always taste the best; however, if you want a healthy alternative or just a quick and easy snack, I highly recommend air-frying the pancakes.
Spray or brush the pancake with oil, and place it in the air fryer—Air-fry at 380F for 5 minutes on each side.
To pan-fry, pour a shallow amount of oil into a pan, and turn the heat to medium-high. Pan-fry the pancake for 5 minutes on each side, or until crispy and golden brown.
