Top Desserts I Tried in Singapore
This trip to Singapore has been so special. Not only did I get to have my first meet and greet, I also got to share my favorite spots in Singapore this trip with my best friends. We got to enjoy some of the top rated cocktail bars in the country, as well as some hawker center favorites.
What I didn’t expect was that I would fall in love with Singapore’s dessert options as well! Between the two of us, Dom is definitely the sweet tooth. However, while I’m in Singapore, I found all the different desserts of Singapore impossible to resist. There’s so many familiar flavor profiles here that are used in unique ways!
Ah Chew Desserts – Mango Sago (9/10)
After a fun meal at Newton Hawker Center, we ended the night with some delicious traditional desserts at Ah Chew Desserts 阿秋甜品. This dessert shop specializes in traditional and modern dessert soups, or 糖水. Their menu is full of familiar flavors like black sesame paste, durian sago, and sticky rice balls in ginger soup.

Tonight, everyone is craving mangos. So, we all got our own mango sago with ice cream (S$4.60). It’s a super creamy and refreshing dessert with sweet mango and chewy sago pearls in a super light, chilled mango-coconut milk base. We definitely said yes to the extra ice cream! Oh my gosh, it is so good. Our friend tried it for the first time and described it as ” like mango sticky rice but on crack”. It was that delicious!

Mr Coconut – Coconut Shake (9.5/10)
Mr. Coconut is my new current obsession that I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of. This dessert spot is all about drinks and desserts made with coconut. The menu includes everything from coconut matcha latte to a simple coconut water.

However, the one I had to get every time is their signature coconut shake (S$4.40). This is a creamy blend of fresh coconut flesh, coconut ice-cream, and coconut water. It was VERY delicious and refreshing. There’s just nothing that can beat that pure coconut flavor.

I recommend anyone who visits Singapore to come here and try their coconut shake. I definitely need to try their matcha coconut float, but it was always sold out! But, I’m excited to try them next time I’m in Singapore.

Tofu G Gelato – Tofu Gelato
While walking around in Ion Orchard, we stopped by the Tofu G Gelato pop-up. This Korean gelato spot is another super new trendy dessert shop that makes plant based tofu gelato. Made with Korean soft tofu, the gelato is churned into the silkiest, thickest texture.

They offer a range of familiar Korean flavors at S$8 a scoop. Their menu includes some flavors that are completely plant-based and dairy-free, like their signature high-protein tofu and the black sesame flavor. Honestly, it tasted way better than I expected. The tofu flavor was creamy, I was surprised it was packed with so much protein. I think I’ll definitely be coming back here for this high protein dessert.

Birds of Paradise – Botanical Gelato (10/10)
Birds of Paradise is my all-time favorite ice cream shop here in Singapore. This gelato shop is Singapore’s only ice cream shop recognised by the Michelin Guide. Known for their botanical flavors, the gelato here is light, perfectly balanced, and not too sweet.

Their must-order flavors are White Chrysanthemum, and Lychee Raspberry. If you’re a coffee person, definitely also get the affogato! Their house-made waffle cones are also infused with thyme, so you get a hint of it every few bites. It’s these herbal touches that makes Birds of Paradise so unique.

This was the perfect pre-bar hopping snack before our bar hop into Singapore’s next level cocktail scene. We couldn’t leave Singapore without coming back, so we had another round of their deliciously floral gelato affogato (S$9.50) with chrysanthemum gelato and a strong espresso, the perfect perfection.

Yat Ka Yan Dessert House – Shaved Ice (9/10)
After a day of photobooth adventures, it was time for some dessert at Yat Ka Yan Dessert House (一家人). Here, you’ll find comforting classic Chinese diner foods. But, we’re really here for their desserts, especially their refreshing shaved-ice varieties. They make a lot of the toppings from scratch in-house, so they taste extra fresh.

To cool down, we ordered the Avocado Sago (S$8). The shaved ice is topped with creamy blended avocado, chilled sago pearls, and ice cream on top. The Chrysanthemum Jelly Shaved Ice (S$5.50) was also super refreshing, with floral and fragrant chrysanthemum jelly served over shaved ice, topped with osmanthus jelly and lychee. These chilled desserts definitely hit the spot for us!

Warabimochi Kamakura – Warabi Mochi (7.5/10)
Of course, we couldn’t leave Singapore without our daily matcha fix. So, we headed to Warabimochi Kamakura, known for Warabimochi drinks and desserts. This starch-based mochi is clearer, and more jelly-like than the typical mochi. It makes it easier to drink this mochi through a straw! We started with a Warabimochi Matcha Latte (S$7.9), with rich matcha, milk, and that thick, iconic brown sugar Warabimochi at the bottom.

This time, we also tried theIr famous warabimochi, which comes in a box of 5 (S$8.9) covered in a ton of soybean powder. Oh my goodness, the mochi had an incredible bounce. I wasn’t expecting it to be so soft and chewy. It actually did remind me so much of the ones that we had in Japan. Pro tip, drizzle on that brown sugar syrup all over it to give that deep caramel-like sweetness that ties everything together.

Whiskdom – Chunky Walnut Cookie
On our last night in Singapore, our sweet tooth fully took over. Our first stop was Whiskdom. This cookie shop is well known for their chunky molten cookies and brownies, which often comes with a gooey middle. These treats come in flavors such as the classic chunky chocolate chip, to other creative options like matcha brownies, Crème Brûlée Cookie, and more.

Dom and I immediately tried their Chunky Chip Walnut, full of melting chocolate chips and chunks of walnuts. At S$6.50 each, the cookies come in a generous size that is good to share between 2. They were genuinely melt-in-your-mouth. Dom became absolutely obsessed with it. The cookie was soft, buttery, and just the right amount of sweetness. For the perfectly decadent molten cookies, definitely try Whiskdom’s!

queic By Olivia – Blue Cheese Cheesecake
Next, we’re off to try the viral Olivia’s Signature Cheesecake at queic by Olivia. This little cheesecake-focused bakery-cafe is a spinoff of the original Olivia Restaurant & Lounge. This cheesecake honestly might be one of the most interesting desserts I have ever had. This iconic cheesecake is made with blue cheese and cream cheese on an almond sable crust, giving it a surprisingly savory twist.

This is the kind of dessert that makes you pause mid-bite. You’re not sure what just happened, but it kind of just works. Ivonne and I absolutely loved it. It was really creamy, rich, and slightly savory in the best way possible. In fact, it tasted better the more you eat!
The opinion is really split for us on this one. Dom and Andrew, on the other hand, absolutely hated it. So, I think this is one of those desserts that really depends on your taste buds. The bakery also offers other unique flavors, from Matcha to Basque Burnt Cheesecake. But, trust me, the Signature Cheesecake is definitely worth trying at least once!
