You’ll be surprised how easy it is to make this classic Hong Kong Cafe dish right at home.

10 Minute Lo Mein with BBQ Pork
Not going to lie, lately grief has been hitting me harder than usual. During times like this, I am just so grateful that my dad and I shared such a special connection through food. Whenever I miss him, I’ll make one of his favorite dishes and somehow feels like I’m sharing a meal with him again. So, let’s make a bowl of comforting Chashu dry mixed noodles 叉燒撈麵 after a 6K marathon training run. Warm, nostalgic, and honestly the kind of meal that I just know my dad would have loved every time we visit a Cantonese cafe. This recipe is super easy to whip up in about 10 minutes, especially using leftover bbq pork, kai dong noodles and sauces
BBQ Pork Lo Mein Ingredients
- 4-5 oz BBQ Pork sliced
- 1 cup bok choy
- 1 pack noodles
- 1 tbsp Four Season Scallion Sauce
- 1 tsp Golden Shallot Oil
- 1 tbsp Vegetarian Oyster Sauce
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 1 scoop hot noodle water
- Sesame seeds for garnish

BBQ Pork
We’re using Chinese BBQ Pork, or 叉燒, as our protein for this Lo Mein today. I made some extra batches of my Air Fryer BBQ Pork recipe yesterday to go with my Shanghai Vegetable Rice for dinner. It’s the easiest way to make homemade cha shiu at home. So today, we’re using it as the protein topping for our quick noodle meal. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the rest of your leftover pork. If you don’t have any for leftovers, you can also find ready-made authentic BBQ Pork at the deli section of Asian supermarkets!

Easy Lo Mein Sauce
This easy lo mein sauce is so simple, and coats every bite of noodle with that umami-savory flavor. The vegetarian oyster sauce and Four Season Scallion Sauce matches the sweet-savory flavors of the char shiu, plus an extra fragrant pop from Golden Shallot Oil. Then, we’re adding some white pepper for a little heat.
The key to well-coated noodles is that little bit of hot noodle water we’re adding into the sauce. It helps loosen and emulsify the different sauces. The starch in that water also helps it stick to the surface of the noodles much better.

How To Make BBQ Pork Lo Mein
- In a pot of boiling water, cook the noodles according to package instructions. At the same time, cook the bok choy until fully cooked, about 2-3 minutes. Set aside the drained noodles, vegetables, and the hot noodle water.

- Add in noodles and toss until evenly coated.
- Top with sliced BBQ pork and blanched bok choy, garnish with sesame seeds, and serve.
